In the wake of Lincoln’s death and Ricky’s departure from the show, I have taken the opportunity to compile a list of charities that support not just LGBTQA individuals but other minorities as well (with links!), because you know….”Minorities Deserve Better” and all that jazz. As I am American these organizations exists only within the United States, if you would like to add organizations from your home feel free to do so:
The National Black Justice Coalition: a civil rights organization dedicated to empowering Black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. NBJC’s mission is to end racism and homophobia.
Operation Understanding DC: Operation Understanding DC’s mission is to build a generation of African American and Jewish community leaders who promote respect, understanding and cooperation while working to eradicate racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination.
Kids In Need of Defense: KIND staff and their pro bono attorney partners at law firms, corporations, and law schools nationwide represent unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children in their deportation proceedings.
Black Girls Rock: a youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media.
Technology Access Foundation: a nonprofit with a mission to equip students of color for success in college and life through the power of a STEM education.
The Arc: the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. They encompass all ages and more than 100 different diagnoses.
American Association for People with Disabilities: AAPD works to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities in the United States by focusing on accessibility, accountability, and equality across several core advocacy areas.

The Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development: seeks to develop programs specifically to improve ethnic and racial empathy and understanding. Its activities are designed to advance and sustain personal growth and improve educational opportunities for members from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Phillipine-American Charities Foundation: sponsors charitable, educational, cultural, and emergency assistance projects to help improve the the quality of lives of people in our communities.
True Colors Fund: works to end homelessness among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth, creating a world in which young people can be their true selves.
STOMP Out Bullying: the leading national anti-bullying and cyberbullying organization for kids and teens in the U.S.
The National Center for Bullying Prevention: actively leads social change, so that bullying is no longer considered an accepted childhood rite of passage.
GLSEN: works to ensure that LGBT students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment.
This is a brief list and does not include even a fraction of all of the worthy charities that exist today, so as I said above, please add any you like to the list. We must not forget in our quest for minority equality, that intersectionality is the key.
